Hi,

With a lot of help, support and wonderful volunteers I've fed over 30,000 troops and their families.   My deepest and sincerest thanks to those that serve, those who have helped us and the donors who made it possible.  Following my divorce and relocation to Texas I took a long break from troop support.  Recently I took my new BBQ pit on a 3,000 mile maiden voyage from Austin, Texas to San Diego, California. While in California I taught a free class for the Marines at Camp Pendleton and cooked dinner for the Wounded Warriors at the Naval Medical Center San Diego.  Pictures and video on past events page.  I will do the occasional event for the Marines and the Wounded Warriors schedule permitting.

One of my students who has become a friend has an annual BBQ contest at his winery McKinleySprings.com to benefit Operation BBQ.  This is one of my favorite places in the world and the event is well worth the visit.  It's held on the second weekend in June each year.

For those looking for BBQ for the troops I would start with state BBQ associations like the Pacific Northwest BBQ Association and the New England BBQ Society, use Google and www.KCBS.us to find local resources.  Del King in California has done more than anyone and he can be found on www.facebook.com/BBQForOurTroops .  There is also the Operation BBQ for our troops midwest division on facebook although I know nothing about them.

For those looking to donate I'd suggest Wounded Warrior Project

Personally I don't donate money and am very suspicious of those who solicit money only.  What I donate is my time, my equipment, meat and sides.  I've done lunch for 5,000 twice and most of the food was direct donations, not cash.  Cash is easy and appreciated but when that is all folks ask for I'm suspicious.

Thank You,
