Hi,

As of 2007 www.OpBBQ.com a.k.a. Operation BBQ Northwest is now a project of Veterans Service Foundation of Washington a 501(c)3 nonprofit public benefit corporation organized for charitable purposes. Konrad & Phyllis Haskins have run OpBBQ since day one in 2003 and will continue to do so. Konrad has joined VSFW as the project manager for OpBBQ. Konrad and Phyllis are self employed running a BBQ restaurant, catering company and cooking school. While they always find the time to cook for the troops they never had the time to form a 501(c)3. Lois Gustafson put them in contact with Ron Fox of www.VSFW.org. Now OpBBQ is under the umbrella of VSFW. This means that donations are tax deductible and Phyllis no longer has to worry about the accounting. We are "unofficially" affiliated with national www.OperationBBQ.com.

OpBBQ's Area of Operations is the Pacific Northwest. VSFW and its project OpBBQ are 100% volunteer. The 97% of money donated is used to buy food to feed the troops in the Northwest, it does "not" pay for salaries, vehicles, gas, rent and the like. Now that donations are tax deductible we will be able to feed more troops and their dependants for free.

Our Mission:

We are a non partisan group that comes together to show the troops the how much we appreciate everything they do. We have done events from small companies to the 3/2 Stryker Brigade Welcome Home for 5,000.

Events are catered for free with the support of our cooks, donors and sponsors.

Konrad and Phyllis,

Thank you so much for the wonderful food you prepared for us. It was outstanding!!! After a very long year that our soldiers were away, a family BBQ was something we all needed. You made it a great and delicious day for the families of Alpha Company 25th BSB. The wonderful generosity that you have shown the soldiers of Fort Lewis and their families in many events is greatly appreciated beyond belief. As a military family we face many hardships as we support our soldiers defending this country. Your organization brings smiles and happiness where tears often fall. Your dedication and generosity makes the sacrifices our soldiers endure well honored, as they serve great Americans such as yourself, your family, and the many volunteers of your organization. We stand and salute you!!
