About Us
As of 2007 www.OpBBQ.com a.k.a. Operation BBQ Northwest is now a project of Veterans Service Foundation of Washington a 501(c)3 nonprofit public benefit corporation organized for charitable purposes. Konrad & Phyllis Haskins have run OpBBQ since day one in 2003 and will continue to do so. Konrad has joined the board of VSFW. KOnrad and Phyllis are self employed running a BBQ restaurant, catering company and cooking school. While they always find the time to cook for the troops they never had the time to form a 501(c)3. Lois Gustafson put them in contact with Ron Fox of www.VSFW.org. Now OpBBQ is under the umbrella of VSFW. This means that donations are tax deductible and Phyllis no longer has to worry about the accounting. We are "unofficially" affiliated with national www.OperationBBQ.com. Our mission "To give honor and thanks to those who protect our freedoms, and their loved ones, with the unique American hospitality of BBQ." OpBBQ's Area of Operations is the Pacific Northwest. VSFW and it's project OpBBQ are 100% volunteer. The 97% of money donated is used to buy food to feed the troops in the Northwest, it does "not" pay for salaries, vehicles, gas, rent and the like. Now that donations are tax deductible we will be able to feed more troops and their dependants for free.
