Stryker Brigade Welcome Home Version 2.0
OpBBQ welcomed home the 3/2 Stryker Brigade with a BBQ for 5,000 on 11/22/04 Details Here. This was the first ever combat tour for a Stryker unit. The 3/2 is wrapping up its second and much harder tour in Iraq. We are at about 90% (as of 10/08/07) of the $12,000 we'll need to buy food. The BBQ is scheduled for October 11th. Donation needed by October 9th. Yes the number to feed was increased by the Army at the last minute from 5,000 to 6,000.

Came home
after a hard year in Iraq. The volunteers, sponsors and donors of
Operation BBQ Northwest welcomed them home with a BBQ for 5,000 on November 22nd
2004. This was our way of saying “Thank You” for their service and “Welcome
Home”. As time permits we will add more narrative.

11/22 Mission Accomplished. With the help of an amazing group of volunteers we prepared 5,000 meals for all 6 battalions of the 3/2 Stryker Brigade. This was done free of charge to the military and was made possible by our Sponsors and Volunteers.
11/16 We received $300 from the Fort Lewis Enlisted Spouses Club, a $750 Check from Save-A-Lot a Supervalu company and a $1,000 check from an individual in Washington. Thank You all!

11/2 Washington State Potato Commission www.Potatoes.com & www.TimsChips.com (Birds Eye Foods) are donating all the Washington potato chips we need. Schwan's is donating 156 Gallons of Ice Cream.
11/1 Linda's Cooking Woods is donating 15 sacks of Cherry wood for us to smoke the Beef with. Birds Eye Foods, Tacoma, WA is donating 32 gallons of Nalley's Coleslaw Dressing.
10/28 The response has been fantastic, Thank You. We are almost there. While working on this event and working their regular jobs the volunteers also managed to feed over 200 wounded soldiers at Fort Lewis this past weekend. We have also booked a Welcome Home from Iraq BBQ for Bravo Troop.
